Unconventional Gas Resources of Mississippian-Devonian Shales in Liard Basin

Joint Assessment of Unconventional Gas Resources of Mississippian-Devonian Shales in Liard Basin

The marketable, unconventional gas potential of the Exshaw and Patry shales of the Liard Basin’s Besa River Formation have been evaluated in a joint assessment by the National Energy Board, the British Columbia Oil and Gas Commission, the British Columbia Ministry of Natural Gas Development, the Northwest Territories Geological Survey, and the Yukon Geological Survey.

The National Energy Board has provided a News Release regarding this collaborative study of one of the largest shale gas resources in the world and Canada’s second largest known gas resource.
